Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Arrives, Introducing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.

The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a different royal figure and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.

A Cosmic Adventure Drawing from Beloved Titles

Much like the Wii-era games that act as its source material, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.

Yet it looks like Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

Star-Studded Voice Cast Come Back and Grow

The feature will see the return of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

A Big Year for Mario

Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release close to the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.

Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles officially announced for 2026, including Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
