Indian Batter Shreyas Iyer Recovering in Hospital Following Torn Spleen Injury
National team batter Shreyas Iyer suffered a lacerated spleen and entered a Sydney hospital after an unfortunate tumble while attempting a catch during the final ODI match against Australia, according to team officials.
Match Incident
The 30-year-old injured himself on Saturday while catching to dismiss Alex Carey, with Iyer clutching his side and showing discomfort after falling onto the SCG turf.
Scans have revealed a tearing wound to the abdominal organ. He is under medical care, in stable condition, and recovering well.
Medical Response
Following on-field treatment, the batter was unable to continue in the game, which India secured victory by a significant margin. Australia had already won the series with wins in the initial games played in Perth and Adelaide.
The medical emergency was reportedly "critical at that moment," according to media reports.

Recovery Process
